A calm, confidential space to talk, reflect, and move forward.

Why people come to counselling

People come to counselling for many different reasons. You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, low, anxious, emotionally tired, or simply aware that something in life is not sitting right. You may want support with a particular difficulty, or you may want space to understand yourself more clearly and make sense of patterns in your life.

Counselling can offer a place to talk things through at your own pace, with care, honesty, and support.

People may reach out for support with things such as:

  • anxiety, stress, or overwhelm
  • low mood
  • self-esteem and confidence
  • grief and loss
  • relationship difficulties
  • life changes or uncertainty
  • repeating patterns that no longer feel helpful
  • wanting a better understanding of yourself

What counselling with me will be like

My main therapeutic modality is Transactional Analysis, supported by a relational and person-centred way of working.

In practice, that means I aim to offer a counselling relationship that is warm, thoughtful, and grounded, while also helping you reflect on the patterns, beliefs, feelings, and relational dynamics that may be shaping your life. Transactional Analysis can be a helpful way of understanding how we relate to ourselves, how we relate to others, and how earlier experiences may still be influencing us in the present.

My role is not to judge or direct you, but to work alongside you in a way that supports insight, awareness, and meaningful change.

Counselling with me is likely to involve:

  • a calm and respectful space to talk openly
  • careful listening and thoughtful reflection
  • exploring patterns in thought, feelings and relationships
  • developing greater self-awareness and self-understanding
  • working at a pace that feels manageable and purposeful

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and work within the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

My registration can be verified through the BACP Register.

About Chris Smith

I’m Chris, founder of Hidden Dragon Holistics.

My counselling work is grounded in a genuine belief that people can grow in awareness, resilience, and self-understanding when they have the right space and support. I aim to offer that space with professionalism, care, and respect.

Alongside my counselling training and practice, I also bring experience from meditation practice and many years of teaching traditional martial arts. These wider parts of my background gently inform the steadiness, presence, and reflective approach I bring to my work, while counselling remains the clear focus here.
